Brain Therapy

Brain therapy uses gentle techniques to assess and work with the brain tissue, different areas of the brain and all aspects of the nervous system to support proper brain function and treat nervous system pathologies. This non-invasive therapy helps to release restrictions within the brain that are contributing to physical symptoms and dysfunction such as neck and back pain, digestion trouble, headaches, and more.

What is Brain therapy?

Brain therapy is a gentle manual therapy working with the nervous system to assess and treat, not only the physical symptoms, but also the primary cause of physical dysfunction ensuring that each treatment is long lasting.

The central nervous system consists of the brain and spinal cord. It combines information from the entire body and coordinates activity throughout the whole system. The brain controls most functions in the body and produces numerous chemicals that interact with the whole body. Because the brain is such an extremely sensitive and intelligent tissue, it responds to subtle touch.

Who is Brain Therapy best for?

Brain therapy can be especially helpful for anyone who has experienced any kind of injury, surgery or trauma. Due to the sensitivity of the central nervous system, when there has been an injury or trauma, the brain may “protect itself” causing a disturbance in the tissue and have an influence on the rest of the body.

Brain therapy is an important piece of pain reduction and overall healing from an injury or trauma.

Brain therapy is an important piece of pain reduction and overall healing from an injury or trauma.

For example, if a person is in a car accident and develops neck and low back pain, headaches and decreased neck mobility, an assessment may reveal the cerebellum (lower brain) is rotated and the brainstem is compressed. This tension can be noticed as far down as your sacrum or sciatic nerve.

Because the brain and spinal cord are central, this tension can create asymmetries into the outer portions of the body, such as the knee or the development of digestion issues.

Over time, these asymmetries may cause more symptoms in the body. Tensions around the cerebellum may contribute to issues with balance or coordination. The tension around the brain stem might continue to pull on the cranial nerves that are involved with movement of the eyes contributing to vision issues or the vagus nerve that controls digestion. It is likely if these deeper tension patterns are not addressed, the physical symptoms may not either fully resolve or may return some time after treatment.

Brain therapy is also helpful for children and adults who experienced a fall, car accident, whiplash, issues with postural control, chronic pain and headaches, delay in motor development, birth trauma, and difficulty maintaining positive effects from other therapies.

How does Brain Therapy improve health?

The brain has the ability to change at any age and in some areas even produce new cells every day. Brain therapy is an important piece of pain reduction and overall healing from an injury or trauma. It can have a profound effect on all aspects of the body and longevity of treatment results.

When the nervous system is working properly, patients experience improved sleep and digestion, decreased pain, and more ease in movement.

Brain Therapy can help patients suffering from:

  • Chronic pain and tension

  • Headaches

  • Decreased joint mobility
